Our team partnered with Hamby Catering and Spike by Snyder to host our first Shifter training event.
Shifters – both new and seasoned – came to Hamby Catering’s beautiful new event venue, the Rutledge Room, to brush up on their skills.
The Spike by Snyder team led attendees through event bartending essentials, providing a detailed overview of:
- How to set up a bar station from start to finish
- How to wrap the bar, cooler, and trash can linens so that no seams are visible
- Best practices for organizing your bar station, alcohol, and mixers
- How to engage guests when they order at the bar
- Ways to provide guidance on a guest's drink selection
…and more!
The Hamby team covered serving and station attendant basics, offering up helpful tips and tricks along the way. Throughout the serving portion of the training, Shifters got to test their hands at:
- Creating a table setting
- Clearing tables and using serving trays
- Organizing glassware and tableware post event
In the station attendant portion of the training, Shifters learned best practices for safely working a buffet station. The Hamby team provided insightful information on how to set up a station, best practices for serving, reminders of how to dress and act professionally in this role, and an overview of how to safely deconstruct the station.
Throughout each rotation, Shifters got to ask questions and understand how to apply this training to real life scenarios.
The evening ended with a social hour as attendees got to meet one another as well as team members from Spike, Hamby, and shiftNOW while enjoying complimentary food and drinks.
We had a great time getting to meet some of our new Shifters and see them working hard to improve their expertise!
