shiftNOW and My Sister’s House Partner to Serve the Greater Charleston Community

shiftNOW is proud to partner with My Sister's House to not only raise awareness for their mission but to connect their community with opportunities to work and support themselves with their own income.

October marks the start of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a month dedicated to advocating for domestic violence victims and survivors.

According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, nearly 29% of women and 10% of men have been victims of domestic violence in their lifetime.

To help raise awareness, we’ve partnered with My Sister’s House, a non-profit organization that serves victims of domestic violence in Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties. It’s their mission to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing comprehensive support, services, and education within and beyond the walls of their shelter.

At shiftNOW we care deeply about the communities we serve and are dedicated to connecting local businesses and individuals seeking hourly opportunities. We’re dedicated to providing a flexible solution for people who - regardless of their background - want to test the waters in something new.

Individuals receiving shelter through My Sister’s House are given referrals for housing, employment, and counseling. Through this partnership, shiftNOW hopes to not only raise awareness for their mission but to connect their community with opportunities to work and support themselves with their own income.

In collaboration with My Sister’s House, we also aim to educate the shiftNOW community on the types of interactions that never OK when working a shift, such as:

  • Psychological abuse (gaslighting, humiliation, threatening behavior, etc.)
  • Physical abuse (forcing drug or alcohol use, forbidding you from eating, etc.)
  • Sexual abuse or coercion (forcing you to dress a certain way, making passes at you, etc.)
  • Digital abuse (sending you negative or insulting messages, constantly texting you, cyberstalking, etc.)

Our team is passionate about making flexible work opportunities accessible to everyone. By partnering with My Sister’s House, we hope to help make a difference in the lives of those who need support in the form of work, income, or a flexible schedule.

“My Sister’s House is an incredible organization that’s truly making a difference throughout the greater Charleston area. I’m thrilled that our platform and resources can be of service to the individuals My Sister’s House serves,” shared shiftNOW CEO, David Wise.
